Bereavement Support
At Supporting Humanity, we understand that the loss of a loved one is one of life’s most painful and challenging experiences. That’s why we are deeply committed to supporting individuals and families through grief with compassion, dignity, and care.
We offer a wide range of bereavement support services designed to meet emotional and practical needs—whether it’s immediately after a death or in the months that follow. Our approach is centred on empathy, understanding, and creating a safe space for healing.
Emotional and Community Support
Our Bereavement Support Co-ordinator and trained volunteers provide tailored support, ensuring that each person is treated with sensitivity and respect. This may include:
- One-to-one conversations in person or over the phone
- Emotional guidance and listening without judgment or expectation
- Participation in informal workshops and group sessions
Our workshops bring together small groups in a supportive environment, where individuals can share experiences, engage in guided discussions, and explore healing through creative activities like memory work, artwork, journaling, or simply being heard.
These spaces are not about advice—they’re about presence, connection, and community.
Practical Support in Times of Grief
Alongside emotional support, our team works closely with hospitals, authorities, registrars, and cemeteries to ease the administrative burden that often comes with loss. We assist families with tasks such as:
- Navigating administrative processes and documentation
- Liaising with official bodies to reduce stress on the family
- Supporting cemetery-related work, including grave digging, cleaning, and maintaining burial grounds
We understand that these practical concerns can be overwhelming during a time of grief, and we aim to shoulder as much of that load as possible.
