Ghusl workshop

May 26, 2026

We attended the workshop on 21st May at Durninghall Forestgate.

Again like the previous times I have attended I learnt something new each time.

The sisters sincerely put so much dedication and hard efforts to get these programmes together, it’s just amazing.

Allah reward you all with the sacrifices and hard work you all do.

The most amazing thing is that all this is through volunteering, now that alone is just to be very grateful for and all services to be appreciated especially when all our lives are so busy and time is always a problem for everyone.

My mum attends the over 60s sessions and for her to attend every week is really saying something cos for her to get out the house is quite a struggle but this just shows how much she enjoys these sessions.

Ghusl workshop

Attending the ghusl and shrouding workshop with Supporting Humanity was honestly beyond what words can fully describe.🥹

This was something I had always wanted to learn, especially after the passing of my sister. At the time, I wasn’t able to be there or understand the full process—I could only witness it over Zoom during COVID, in another country. That experience stayed with me, and it made me realise how unprepared we often are for the one thing that is promised for every soul: death. We plan so much for life’s events, yet this is something we rarely prepare for.

This workshop changed that for me.

Not only was the ghusl and shrouding process explained clearly and thoroughly, but the sisters delivered it with such care, sensitivity, and deep awareness of how emotional and personal this experience is—especially for grieving families. The leaflet provided, outlining the Islamic protocols of burial, was also incredibly helpful and something I will always keep close.

What truly stood out was the compassion and intention behind the sisters leading the session. It wasn’t just about learning a process—it was about خدمة (service), dignity, and honouring our loved ones in the most beautiful and respectful way.

After attending, I’ve wholeheartedly made the intention that this is something I want and need to do. While I couldn’t do this for my own sister, I hope to be able to do it for someone else’s sister, mother, or loved one. I pray it becomes a means of sabr and healing for me, and a خدمت to others.

A huge thank you to the entire Supporting Humanity team and the incredible sisters who led the workshop. I’m truly grateful, and I look forward to the opportunity to support in this work soon, insha’Allah.
